1.4 Charge (capacity) recovery
after storage
This test determines the capacity
a cell recovers after storage for a specified
period following subsequent charge.
Stage 1-The cell shall be
charged in accordance with 1.1.
Stage 2-The cell shall be
discharged, in an ambient temperature of
20oC¡À5oC,at a constant current of 0,2 ItA,
until the cell voltage is less than or equal
to the specified end-of-discharge voltage.
Stage 3-The cell shall be
stored, in open circuit, in an ambient temperature
of 40oC¡À2oC, for 90 days.
Stage 4-The cell shall be
charged, in an ambient temperature of 20oC¡À5oC,
in accordance with the method declared by
the manufacturer.
Stage 5-The cell shall be
discharged, in an ambient temperature of
20oC¡À5oC, at a constant current of 0,2 ItA,
until the cell voltage is less than or equal
to the specified end-of-discharge voltage.
Stage 6- The capacity (Ah)
released, during stage 5, shall be calculated
at the end-of-discharge.
The calculated capacity for
the charge (capacity) recovety shall be
expressed as a percentage of the rated capacity
(% C5Ah).
If the calculated capacity
is lower than the required percentage of
rated capacity, then stages 4 and 5 are
repeated until the requirement is met. Five
cycles are permitted.
1.5 Endurance in cycies
This test determines the number
of chatge/discharge cycles which a cell
can endure before its useful capacity has
been depleted.
Unless otherwise agreed between
the supplier and the purchaser, the following
endurance-in-cycles test shall be conducted.
Stage 1-The cell shall be
charged in accordance with 1.1.
Stage 2-The cell shall be
discharged, in an ambient temperature of
20oC¡À5oC,at a constant current of 0,2 ItA,
until the cell voltage is less than or equal
to the specified end-of-discharge voltage.
Stage 3-The cell shall be
discharged, in an ambient temperature of
20oC¡À5oC, in accordance with the method
declared by the manufacturer. The cell may
be stored between charge and discharge and/or
discharge and charge for up to 1 h.
Stage 4-The cell shall be
continuously discharged and charged as per
stages 2 and 3 until the discharged capacity
is less than 60 % of the rated capacity.
Stage 5-The result of this
test shall be the number of times stages
2 and 3 were repeated (i.e. the cycle number)
before the capacity (Ah), released during
stage 2, at the end-of-discharge, becones
less than 60 % of the rated capacity (60
%C5 Ah).
